After trying several filament drybox designs from multi-spool to single spool containers, I found several short comings which are addressed with this design

  • Many filament roller solutions caused friction where the filament roll was rubbing against the box and led to sporadic under extrusions which is noticeable when printing at high speeds and flowrates
  • I found the smoothest motion was possible with the Original TUSH design, but did not find a drybox using it which allowed the filament to feed in top to bottom without any large deviations

Features of this design

  • Fits any manufacturer's single 1Kg spool or smaller spools using the adjustable base
  • No supports needed
  • Designed with quick changes of filament rolls in mind without having to fidget with complicated spool holders and adapters
  • Only particular 4L cereal container works with this design
  • Provides buttery smooth motion thanks to the TUSH design

Filament: Duramic Pla Plus Black Post-Printing =============

Screw the rails onto the base using M3x12 mm screws and nuts. Then snap fit the assembled TUSH++, one on either side to fit your filament spool width. You can optionally use an M3 tap to make the holes easier to work with

Drill a hole in the center of the flap of the cereal box lid. A step drill bit works best. Screw in the Pc4-M10 fitting and use an M10 nut (I used a printed one from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2047554 ).

Snap fit the base onto the lid and place the filament on the rollers. Close the box from top. Optionally, you can tape some desiccant bags to the top corners/sides of the box as there is plenty of room.

Feed the filament from the top down into your extruder. Happy Printing!
