"It will open your window slowly but surely""

This is a simple smart-home window opener which is low cost and easy to build.

This design needs to be screwed to the top of your window, the intention was to

leave no visible screw holes when removed in the future.

The main target for construction was to use old parts laying around, the motor is quite slow with the m6 rod.

I also recommend to use a modern stepper driver that is less noisy then the old A4988.

Parts needed:

-Printed parts: coupler, nut-holder, case

-Laser-cut parts(cut from 5mm material)

-M6 Rod & Nut

-M3 Screws and nuts

-Nema 17 motor

-Wemos D1 Mini or other small ESP8266

-A4988 or compatible stepperdriver

-Stepdown for ESP

-12v PSU

Printing Instructions

The printed parts can be printed from PLA, no supports needed. The nut-holder might be printed a little smaller to ensure a press fit. The lasercut parts should be made from a robust material like POM or plywood. Build =====

Build Instructions

Put the parts together like shown in the pictures.

Connect the stepper driver to the following pins on your ESP:

sleep_pin:D2

step_pin: D3

dir_pin: D4

Microstepping is not needed her, also RESET & SLEEP can be soldered together.

Warning: This design doesnt use ENDSTOPS!

Set your motor current low enough to prevent anything from being destroyed.

For firmware i am running Esp-home to control the window from home assistant.

A demo configuration.yaml can be found in the files tab.

Adjust the Steps to the travel of your window :)
