There are now several quality cameras for the Raspberry Pi with the newest addition of the Raspberry Pi Camera V3 as well as many choices from Arducam.
Arducam also offers an inexpensive camera case that will accept all (V1/V3/V3) of the official Raspberry Pi cameras as well as many of their own excellent cameras.
Unfortunately the case does not work well with a standard tripod style mounting as the ¼-20 mounting hole is directly on the back of the case. This does make for a nice, compact case and will work fine in many situations but, in my application, I wanted to use a small tripod for the camera.
The model was designed in Freecad and is a simple “L”-shaped bracket. The model design files are included here. It is parameterized so dimension changes should be easy.
