This project started roughly 2 years ago and It's still a work in progress due to lack of time and resources. It started as a crazy idea and ended up becoming one of my favourite models.
As far as I know this is the only shape optimized guitar body out there. Parameters were set to optimize stiffness in the pulling direction of the strings as well as to guarrantee it will not snap if you use it with a strap.
I also built a P bass, and actually finished and played it. You can check it here: https://www.printables.com/model/446841-shape-optimized-bass-guitar
The body was printed as one piece on my custom delta printer. There are two 8mm holes you can use to reinforce the body by installing 8mm threaded rods. You can also use these holes as guides if you choose to print the body in multiple pieces.
The print will most likely come out a bit rough. You can smooth it with some filler and sand paper.
There's no electronics cover since I never designed it. As I said it's still a work in progress.
Holes for routing the wires are already in place but you'll need to reopen them with a long drill bit.
Hardware:
I picked the cheapest bridge I could find on Amazon. I'ts kept in place via 5 M3 screws that thread into threaded rivets inserted in the back of the guitar.
The neck comes from a Squier Strat.
For pickups I used two old humbucker that came from a PRS.
I only included 2 pots for the two pickups' volume. There's no tone knob since most people (me included) only play with tone maxed out.
The output jack is a ¼" barrel style connector. Again I went with the cheapest I could find.
Hope you like it!
