Rattling fidget toy
My favorite fidget toys are those that make a clicking, clapping, rattling sound. I don't know if anything like this already exists. I didn't search for it deeply. I decided I make my own.
A short video:
Assembly
You will need 4 pieces of 1.75 mm diameter, 11 mm long filament. And some super glue for assembly.
Printing
I printed it on my Anet A8 Plus. I used PLA. with 0.2 mm layer height. I used Cura's defeault "Draft" (0.2mm) profile with supports. Supports are only required for the wheel. With these settings the printing took a bit less than 5 hours.
Attention!
Cura reported missing surfaces for the upper and lower base parts. I don't know what is causing this. There were no errors when I exported this from FreeCAD. There were no errors when I checked geometry of the parts within the FreeCAD either. Also Cura corrected the errors, and generated usable gcode. I tried exporting in several formats. In OBJ format there were no errors. Therefore I upload these two pieces also in OBJ format. But when I loaded the OBJ file in Cura, it had a "low poly" look (solved. see below). If somebody can solve this problem, please port it in a comment!
I upload the FreeCAD source file for testing different export formats and for remixes.
Edit:
Based on suggestion of a FreeCAD group pal @gjpc, I exported the two problematic parts from mesh too. Now there are no errors, and the files look usable. I uploaded them:
rattling_fidget-base_top_refined_mesh.stl
rattling_fidget-base_top_refined_mesh.obj
rattling_fidget-base_bottom_refined_mesh.stl
rattling_fidget-base_bottom_refined_mesh.obj
Important notice for the gcode files
I'm only uploading my gcode files to show the printing statistics. My printer is upgraded with a BLtouch sensor and modified firmware. So the gcode contains auto bed leveling. It may not work on stock printers!
