Introduction:

I wanted a way of mounting my AAP to my tripod, and then I remembered I have a 3D printer!

This clamp mount is a fairly simple, but a secure and effective way of relocating your ASIAir/Pro/Plus to a 1.75" diameter tripod leg as opposed to sitting it on your OTA. It should also accept other devices with a 30mm width dovetail bar.

Uses M3 bolts and square nuts to secure the clamp and tighten it. The bolts nearest the dovetail holder also increase the grip onto the dovetail, so you can adjust that as needed for a tighter hold onto the ASIAir.

13/05/2023: Updated the model. Reinforced the rear fitting and replaced the internal spaces for the square nuts with exterior ones.

Materials:

Either PLA/PLA+ or PETG.

I've printed this both in PLA+ and PETG, and would highly recommend PETG. The extra flexibility should make it more secure on the tripod leg, and it'll take a bit more tensile load. It'll probably also last longer.

However, if all you have is either PLA or PLA+, that should work fine.

Required Hardware:

3x M3 30mm Socket Cap Bolts

3x M3 18mm Socket Cap Bolts

6x M3 Square Nuts

Recommended Print Settings:
  • 0.2mm layer height.
  • No supports.
  • 30% infill.
  • 3 perimeters.
  • Avoid crossing perimeters.

Included Files:

  • GCODE files for printing this on the Mini+, either with PLA or PETG.
  • 3MF file with the model cut in half and ready for you to slice with your own settings or for a different printer.
  • STL file. This needs to be rotated and then cut in half (it should be obvious where) in your slicer before you continue.

Feedback or suggestions are always welcome!
