Vacuum cleaner attachment for sanding

If you are sanding your 3D prints or other things, you need something to get rid of the dust. 

I wanted something for jewelry making that can be attached to my desk and my vacuum cleaner, that's easy to install and remove and that only sucks up the dust, not small jewelry parts. 

So I came up with this big nozzle attachment, which can be equipped with a grid. 

The nozzle itself needs support, more or less, depending on how you put it on the buildplate.

I decided to print it on its side for maximum stability of all parts. In the first version I printed it laying on its top side, but the clip that holds the connection to the vacuum cleaner broke. The rotation did the trick, the clip is sturdy now.

All other parts don't need any support.

For the grid inlay I used a modifier in PrusaSlicer. This way you can choose the resulting mesh by simply adjusting the amount of infill. I went with 50% grid, but you can try different ones. You can swap them, depending on your current needs.
If you prefer to use some mesh cloth, you could print only the inlay frame to secure it on the attachment.

Assembly is easy.
All you have to do is putting the threaded inlay into the fitting hole, screw in the screw from underneath and put the screw stopper on top.
You can use glue if necessary, but it's not always needed. 
I glued some leftover felt on top of the screw stopper and underneath the half rounded platform to prevent scratches on my desk. Totally optional, it works perfectly fine without.

Now all that's left to do is attaching it to your desk by fastening the screw and attaching the vacuum cleaner underneath.

I'm not sure if all vacuum cleaners have the same attachment size. I'm using a “Miele S771” at home.

The inner diameter of the connector is 35 mm and the square pin is 10x10 mm. I added a test piece for the connector so you can check if it will fit.
