Accessory for my Modular Racking System
UPDATES

- Added step files of the models

- The baseplate has been updated! There are now some holes on the sides to allow you to fasten it to the new accessory beams. You can use the usual M3 x 6mm fastener, or the 8/10mm rivets from the new rivet kit. If used with the new accessory beams, you no longer need the clamp as you can simply attach it directly to the beams. The fasteners will stick out a little bit due to the shoulder in them.

- I'm thinking about it and may make a one piece version of the plate that fastens directly to the uprights, without the use of beams.

- Corrected the text on the two couplers. It was slightly too large and would interfere with the racking
This is a base kit for adapting the Gridfinity system (by Zack Freedman) to my racking. Each individual piece is a 5 x 2 grid.
The kit includes couplers to use multiple racks together. This means that with two racks back to back, you now have a 5 x 5 grid. 3 racks will get you 5 x 8, etc. The couplers are speced to fit the gridfinity profile and are 6mm longer than the standard couplers from the base kit.
The base grid includes magnet holes to gridfinity spec. It also has two holes underneath to twist-lock some clamps (they can also be bolted to the grid) to secure it to the beams; that way they don't come off/lift when you want to take a magnetized bin out. If you find the twist locks are a little too weak, please let me know and I will thicken the models up. Currently they are 2mm. Simultaneously, if you find the gridfinity adapter to be a little too weak, also let me know. I can thicken up the model in a few areas. I hollowed it out to save on material, since this racking can be a filament consumer.
- Gridfinity text has been embossed into the couplers to easily identify them vs. the regular inserts.
- The clamps are modeled to not require supports. Sacrificial bridges are modeled into them. The same m3 x 6mm bolts can be used if you wish to fasten them (beyond the twist lock, which can still undo itself). If you wish to bolt them.. I would suggest assembling the gridfinity tray to the beams prior to installation on the racking. Would make installation a little easier on large assemblies.
- The base file should not need supports on the two bottom holes, I increased the vertical tolerance to allow for a little bit of sag from bridging. If you do choose to use supports, just make sure they only touch the center circle, otherwise getting them out might be a fun challenge.
- The bin is just for demo and not included in the kit.
All models have been printed to test and fit nicely; using the same 0.3mm tolerances (a few areas have been increased to 0.5) as the base kit.
