This file only contains the number row keys and doesn't currently include the backspace.

I do have plans to eventually put together a full set of keycaps, but learning everything all at once (3D printing, drafting, outputting files, testing prints, revamping designs, etc.) has been slow going.

However, these keys are designed to match the standard profile for CherryMX keycaps, and I've had them on my keyboard for a couple of weeks now with no issues. I knew I wouldn't be getting these completed quickly, so I wanted keycaps that would fairly seamlessly match the rest of the keyboard for touch typing. The texture difference is noticeable, but I've had no issues with accuracy or timing in hitting the keys I want to hit.

The NumPad keycaps are next…

Settings used for keycaps in photos:

  • 0.10mm layer height
  • snug supports
  • right-side up and rafted
    • they need to rafted if they are printed right-side up if you want the color change and a smooth surface. I did try putting them number-face down, but I didn't like the uneven stranding and texture of the background.
  • ironing to get an extra-smooth top
  • variable layer height - I don't like the results and won't use it going forward

Filaments for keycaps in photos:

  • Hatchbox Black PLa for the base
  • Prusament Oh My Gold for the color

Someone with far more experience could get a far cleaner print, but I am tickled with how these came out!

The two gcode files are 0.10mm layer height (no variable layering). One is snug supports, the other is organic supports. I haven't printed it with the organic supports, but they look nifty!
