I really liked Perinski's rotating PCB holder, but it's a little bit too small and it requires quite a bit of post-processing (most holes are too small and need to be drilled). I decided to redesign it, borrowing heavily from the original design but making some tweaks.

Frame B and its corresponding knob have magnets to hold their position, turning the knob is very satisfying. 😂

I recommend printing the jaws in ABS, as PCBs can get hot while soldering. The rest can be printed in PLA or PETG, I used PETG.

For assembly, I used the following parts:

  • 2x linear shaft rails, 200mm long, 6mm outer diameter
  • 20x Neodymium magnets, 3x3mm
  • 1x compression spring, 25mm long, 5mm outer diameter
  • 1x M4 DIN912 hex socket head screw, 35mm long
  • 3x M4 DIN912 hex socket head screws, 20mm long
  • 4x M4 hex nuts
  • 6x M4 steel washers
  • 4x M3 brass threaded heat inserts, 10mm long

The magnets are glued into their holes, but be very careful to make sure they all have the same orientation! Gluing them can get tricky, as they have a tendency to jump out and attach themselves to other nearby magnets. I recommend gluing a few at a time and waiting for the glue to set before doing the next batch. I also glued in the nuts, although that's probably unnecessary.
