Now out! The HMS Hood that was sunk by the Bismarck! Get your model here:

(Printing and assembly instructions below)

The German battleship Bismarck! Named after Otto von Bismarck and the flagship of the kriegsmarine in World War 2, now made as a 3D model that can be 3D printed and shown off.

Printing, assembly and painting takes quite a while! Just so you know what you are getting into:

 - Print time (using my print files): around 50 hours.
 - Filament needed: just a little more than 700 grams.
 - Assembly and painting time: 1,5 days (that's how long it roughly took me)
 - Total length of ship (at 1:384): 65,1 cm / 25,6 inches (smaller doesn't work, then some cannons get too small)

I really enjoyed making this and I'm looking forward to seeing your models! Happy printing!

PRINT INSTRUCTIONS

Printing the files can be done at any settings really, but I do have some recommendations for certain settings:

Hull parts
Speed: 0.20mm Quality
Infill: 20%
Fill pattern: Adaptive Cubic
Support: Organic

Small parts
Speed: 0.10mm Detail
Infill: 20%
Fill pattern: Adaptive Cubic
Supports: Grid (apart from the crane !)

ASSEMBLY AND PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS

Before starting the assembly, make sure that you have all of the following parts:

Step 1.

Assemble the hull. This is done by connecting all the different hull parts with the 33 pins, and glueing the hull parts together. NOTE: The pins are not made to hold the ship together, they are only there to keep the hull parts aligned when you are glueing the parts together!
NOTE 2: Do not yet put the smaller prints on the hull parts in this step! Painting the ship goes a lot easier without the small pieces already on top.

Follow the diagram below for more detailed steps on how to get the hull parts together.

Once you have done this for all the hull parts, your ship should look like this:

Step 2.

Time to paint the hull and the cannons up. You can follow the paint scheme from these pictures. NOTE: pictures are NSFW, they contain swastika's.

Step 3

Put the small parts onto the now assembled and painted hull. You can use the same picture that is linked above to figure out where those go.

Again, I hope you have a fun time printing my model, it took a lot of time to model and print myself. I look forward to seeing your models and happy printing!
