Don't you hate when you take your switch controller out of your bag after traveling and the battery is dead?

Hi there. I have been frustrated by my Switch controller many times while traveling. After a long day of going places and doing things I just want to unwind with some Rocket League or Tears of the Kingdom, but I always find my controller is dead when I get it out of my bag because the buttons get pressed by something. I'm happy with the original design by Tron08 as it works well to prevent buttons from getting pressed, but the bolt mechanism is a fairly delicate piece that can seize up or break. (Frustrating on such a big print.)

I thought about other more resilient devices but eventually settled on a low tech option; A stretchy string tied in a loop! If you thread a stretchable string like the kind you sometimes get on gift boxes through the hexagonal hole and tie it in a circle, you can stretch it under the bottom and then over the top and drop the end into the hook on bottom near the hexagon, it should hold firmly. You may also reverse the direction if you like or if you've damaged one.

You may need to tie it a couple of times to get the tension right, but that is just more opportunities to put beads on it!

print guidance: Most importantly, the top shell is overkill, if you print that piece upside down and drop it under the build plate in your slicer you can shave off a lot of filament. (Just make sure to preview it and make sure you have enough thickness there for your comfort.)

Walls are more important than infill for the strength of this print. 10% infill is likely more than enough for strength.

spend a bit of time tuning tree support to have it branch out and cradle the surfaces while still saving material on tree bases or use conical standard support with a high angle.

On my printer I had to reduce the size of the pins by 1 percent for a good fit. If you have a deadly accurate printer then you're likely fine with no adjustments.

If you print my models and enjoy them, please hit like and upload makes. I enjoy seeing them :)
