The Yihua 968DB+ is a cheap rework station hat provides hot air and a soldering iron with a vacuum hose to extract smoke. The vacuum port on the Yihua is compatible with generic 5mm ID vinyl hose. This adaptor fits on the end of such hose so that you can attach the metal “hot air” tips (nozzles) included with the Yihua kit to the vinyl hose. This allows you to use the vacuum function of the Yihua tool as a more “general purpose” vacuum instead of merely a solder smoke extractor. For example, it is useful in conjunction with the Yihua's hot air tool to suck molten solder from PCBs that require rework.
I have included the freeCAD source files if you want to remix the design. They were done in a hurry so they're a bit of a mess! A model with a groove for an o-ring has been provided, this should allow a more airtight seal inside the metal nozzle. The o-ring groove has some overhangs and may not print well. If this is the case, the “no o-ring” version can be used with the addition of some PTFE tape to help it seal.
Speaking of seals, the hole to insert the hose into the model has a tapered thread. With the vinyl hose I used, I was able to screw it into the hole until tight. My prototype seems very airtight, using an o-ring but no PTFE tape anywhere.
I printed in PLA on a Wanhao i3 clone. 0.2mm layer height, brim around the outside, no supports. The printed parts will probably not be very resilient* with heavy use at high temperatures, so if you use this a lot, expect to print some replacements. Then again, the vinyl hose probably won't last very long either if you're using it to suck a lot of hot solder smoke!
This is a field-expedient modification to the Yihua tool and should be used with caution. I do not certify this model for use with anything for any purpose :-)
*This would be an ideal candidate for Prusa's new self-extinguishing PETG filament: https://blog.prusa3d.com/the-new-prusament-gets-ul-certified-were-launching-a-new-self-extinguishing-petg_80711/
If anyone prints this using the new filament above, please post here and let us know what you think!
