INTRODUCTION
Since the Raspberry Pi seems to be the go to compute module its only natural for us to support the Raspberry Pi Camera module. This is a 3 piece mount for the IR Camera module that can either be attached to the deck of your printer or if you prefer on one of the raised frame extrusions.
THE DESIGN
This enclosure was designed to keep things to a very minimal. The mount has air vents on the rear as this IR cam runs very hot. The camera mount is small enough to mount to any extrusion.
WARNING: This camera is known to run very hot so check in on the camera and if you are not happy with how hot it gets do not use this mount!
BOM
It is recommended that you print this mount in either ABS or ASA as the camera tends to live inside the printer enclosure. All parts are oriented correctly to be able to print without the use of supports with exception of the Rear Cover. To print this add supports touching the bed only and you will be good to go.
Additional parts necessary are: -
- Unscrew the camera lense and slide on the front cover. Screw back the lense once the front cover is in place.
- Connect the ribbon cable to the Raspberry Pi Camera module making sure the pins make proper contact. It is important to do this first as it will be tight to install later. Double confirm your ribbon cable is long enough to reach the Raspberry Pi - if it is not long enough purchase from Amazon or AliExpress depending on the length required.
- Attach the rear cover to close the camera module.
- Attach the Pi Camera housing to either the mount Deck mount or the Frame mount using an M3x20 SHCH screw with an M3 Nut.
- Attach the mount to the frame extrusion using an M5x8 BHCS screw and M5 T-Nut.
- ENJOY!
