After replacing the battery twice and screen once on my Nuvi 2689 due to the car being in the sun and getting very hot due to direct sunlight. I designed a sun shade to try and protect it. 2 years later it seems to keep the unit cooler and the unit has not had any battery / screen issues since. I printed it in black ASA for heat resistance on a Prusa MK3S+ in a Prusa Enclosure with 30% infill. I had no problems with bed adhesion or layer splitting and have made several of these for friends.
I use this on a Garmin ball mount setup. This slides on and off with no other attachments and doesn't interfere with the USB power / data cable.
I have included the OPENSCAD cad file as well if you want to modify the design to suit your own slightly different GPS model.
