This is my attempt to design a mount for the Bondtech LGX extruder with the LGX FF for flexibles hotend kit. The extruder is mounted sideways attached to a mounting plate via two M3 side screws into the extruder and one M2.5 screw that attaches to one side of the FF adapter plug. Also included is a BLTouch mount that attaches to the front of the extruder on the right-hand side of the mount. For part cooling I designed belt clamps that have extra holes for brass inserts to allow attaching a 5015 blower fan. A fan duct I designed press fits into the fan's outlet.
Required mounting hardware:
- M3 5mmx~5mm brass insert for the center hole in the mount plate.
- 2 M3 5mmx~5mm inserts for the belt clamps to attach the 5015 fan to.
- M3x20mm screw to attach mount plate to standard HEVO X carriage.
- 2 M3x10mm screws to attach side of extruder to mount plate.
- 1 M2.5x8mm screw to attach side of FF adapter plug to mount plate.
- 1 M3x35mm screw to replace top-right screw in front of extruder to attach BLTouch mount.
- 1 M3x16mm screw to replace top-left screw in front of extruder to attach BLTouch mount.
- 2 M3x20mm screws to attach 5015 blower to belt clamps.
- 2 M3x12mm screws to attach bottom of mount to extruder bottom.
The fan duct is very likely not great, as this is just a first attempt without evaluation/tuning, and this is the first time I've designed anything this complex. The X carriage is included as I adjusted the hole sizes for the brass inserts as previously they were so big my inserts were pulling out.
So far it seems to be working well, but I'm far from done tuning.
Note: The LGX I used for my printer was provided for free by Bondtech as part of a launch announcement giveaway contest. No review or design work was requested or required to receive this prize.
