My Das Keyboard 4 Professional for Mac had a volume knob which got sticky along the sides over time, eventually starting to leave a sticky, black residue on my fingers. The minute clearance against the wall of the keyboard enclosure meant that my usual fix of wrapping it in tape would cause the rotation to be very rough and inconsistent.

Emails to the Das Keyboard manufacturer was left unresolved because I was in an unsupported market; this led me to simply yanking the knob out with a flat ruler and attempting to re-create it in plastic. (The original is a hefty metal)

For reasons that don't seem to prioritise ergonomics, the top and bottom round edges are chamfered and the sides do not have any form of grip. That is the original design - feel free to remix as you wish to make things.

FYI the keyboard uses a short D-shaft rotary encoder with unlimited turns. This was tricky to measure without a caliper, and I went with some guesses in terms of depth for the fit.

Recommend printing at 100% infill so it feels a little heavier and closer to the original, but it works fine with 20% infill. In fact my print had an obvious seam on the side and that helped with the grip somewhat.
