Update 2025-07-07: I was having issues with some spools getting wedged between the frame and roller so I created a hub with a lip. To make this lip as thin as possible while still being tall enough to keep the spool in place I decided to make the hub a two-piece design using Voron spec heatsets and M3x16mm SHCS to secure them together.
I also created a clip that doesn't require an axle as I wanted to use the axles for a different project. These use an M3x16mm SHCS to strengthen them. Unfortunately due to the clip design you will need supports for the ridge on the clip itself. You don't need supports for the screw hole.
I really liked Frantisek23's drybox as it allowed for four spools within the 22L Samla container held by the hub which I have found to be the most reliable and free spinning. This is really important when using cardboard spools at any damage to the outer rim can cause the spool to catch and jam on other styles of spool holders. Even better is you can replace any spool by itself, something no other hub spool holder in this container allows!
But as I am using external buffers I didn't really have the need for the auto-rewinder since it only added more resistance for the extruder. I made my own hub that matches the dimensions of the spring hub and is a direct replacement!
I also remixed the 8mm shaft end clips I am using in order to utilize a M2 heatset insert (3.5mm Outer Diameter x 4mm Length) and fastener. Using a smaller fastener makes the part far stronger. I also reshaped it to print without any supports.
