I had trouble scanning smaller patches when profiling my printer with i1 studio. With the help of this tool, I successfully scanned a chart made for the i1 pro (using argyllCMS).
The tool is wide enough to scan the short side of an A4 page. For larger charts, you can try to print multiple tools and connecting them, then cutting away part of the middle (or making the model longer if you have a larger printer. This prints on my Ender 3 S1).
