The MHP30 is a great tool, but having 300c just chilling on my desk always made me nervous that it might be easily knocked over when using it, or by something tugging on the USBC power cable. This 1x1 base holds the MHP30 with a single M3 screw and uses magnets to stay securely upright.
BOM:
6x2mm magnets
M3 screw ~8mm. (countersunk head preferred, but any small-headed screw should work.)
NOTES:
Gridfinity bins can be placed in front of the unit but not behind due to the size of the MHP30 and the buttons / USB power connecting to the back.
Although the MHP30 gets very hot I've been using it with a PLA base with no issues. YMMV
I have observed no interference to the MHP30 from the magnets.
Use the tall version to keep the display visible over short bins.
PRINT SETTINGS:
No special settings needed! The magnet holes have a flat top and the screw hole is tapered. Print with supports if you are worried about the overhangs where the magnets go in.
SAFETY:
The MHP30 is designed to reach 300c and is obviously a burn and fire hazard. This Gridfinity base mount is not a perfect solution to keep it safe from falling or burning anything. Even if it may be more secure when stuck in a grid with magnets, it is still a hazardous tool to use.
