Introducing the Eco-Friendly Fruit Fly Trap Lid – a practical and sustainable solution to keep those bothersome fruit flies at bay. This model is specially designed for anyone seeking an environmentally friendly and effective way to deal with fruit flies in the kitchen or elsewhere in the home.

Our trap lid is compatible with jars having a thread size of TO 82, seamlessly transforming a regular jar into a fruit fly trap. The design is meticulously crafted to ensure easy screwing on the jar, just like a conventional lid.

For the bait, we recommend using materials readily available in your kitchen, such as banana peels, apple slices, or smashed potatoes. These natural attractants have proven to be highly effective in luring fruit flies into the trap.

The model is designed with user convenience in mind. After catching the flies, you can easily dispose of them by briefly opening the lid outdoors, allowing the flies to escape into a new environment.

Regarding the 3D printing process, the trap lid is suitable for printing in both PLA and PETG materials. The 3MF file, prepared for Bambu Studio users, includes pre-applied seam placement, adaptive height settings, and other optimized printing parameters to ensure the best quality print.

For those using the STL file, it is recommended to manually draw seams as indicated in the attached image to ensure the gaps remain intact and prevent any escape routes for the flies. Use a 0.4mm nozzle, setting the layer height to 0.2mm or using adaptive layer height settings. The design requires 2 or 3 wall loops. Outer brim is also recommended.

Additionally, an SCAD file is available for those interested in further customizing or parameterizing the design.

Whether you're a 3D printing enthusiast looking for a useful household project or someone seeking a non-toxic method to deal with fruit flies, this model offers an excellent blend of functionality, sustainability, and simplicity.
