Scope:

I have connected my 3D printer to a central exhaust system with a 50mm pipe diameter. To prevent air from flowing back into the printer, I designed a valve. As a convenience feature, I added a indicator to see whether air is flowing through or not.

The valve is designed for 50mm HT pipe, it is easy to assemble and requires only a few other parts like:

  • 3x M3x16 bolts (to mount the top to the body
  • 2x M3x30 bolts as axis for the flap and indicator
  • 1x M3x16 bolt only i you use the top flange

Printer settings:

  • Printer:           X1C Bambulab
  • Resolution:    0,2 mm
  • Infill:               15% infill
  • Support:        enabled (needed for main body and top with flange), use tree support for top flange
  • Material:        PLA
Note:

I used PETG as support interface layer for PLA - worked out well for me.

Assembly details:

Please see attached pictures which may support while assembly. The mainbody and top with flange have to be cleaned from any of the supports and it's supportinterfaces to ensure easy and smooth movement of the flap.

Now screw the indicator onto one of the M3x30 bolts up to the end.

Next insert the flap into the main body and screw it in place with both M3x30 bolts from each site. Align the indicator to the postion of the flap.

Last step is to screw either the top with flange or the top with 3x M3x16 bolts.
