Seems to be a common issue, but the keyring notch for this remote is too flimsy and breaks down quite easily.
If you still have the original in good shape, I suggest you look at Eddie Green's idea, which was the inspiration for this design and the change of the keyring location, in favour of a bigger, for a better fit.
