Cable strain relief replacement part for Philips SalonDry Compact 1400W (Model: HP8103/00).
After years and years of usage, the strain relief's hook broke on our “Philips SalonDry Compact 1400W” hair dryer, so I quickly designed a replacement part.
Usage:
- To disassemble the dryer just unscrew the 2 triangle screws. (Torx bits work on them.)
There are also some plastic clips at the top. - Pull the original strain relief away towards the plug and leave it for now.
- Apply some superglue to one side on the inside.
Be careful not to get glue inside the cable tunnel! - Insert the cable into the tunnel in one side.
The hook should look backwards when assembled. - Place the other side over the cable and align both sides.
- Use zipties or a spring clamp to keep the two sides together until the glue fully dried.
- Insert the fully assembled model into its place inside the handle.
- Assemble the dryer.
- If you're happy with the new strain relief, cut the old one off with a flush cutter.
Note: This is specifically for the model “HP8103/00”, other revisions might have different strain reliefs.
Printing:
Cut the model into two and print them facing down. (See included image.)
I used the following settings:
- Material: TPU
- Infill: 100%
- Layer height: 0.10mm
PETG should probably work as well.
No support or any other special consideration is necessary.
