I loved OnyxHat's Compact Pill Case, but I needed something a bit less compact for the amount of pills I have. I made this pill case a bit bigger, added multiple sockets for my specific magnets, and made everything remixable through variables.

  • The multiple magnets allow the part to have a stronger hold when both magnets are engaged (resulting in the “closed” position having the strongest “lock”)

  • A single magnet can hold the case in an “open” position with a weaker, single-magnet, hold

  • Modify all the sizes/tolerances through variables. Check out the OnShape document linked below for more information

Parts

  • 1x 608-RS Bearing

  • 4x 10mm x 1.6mm disc magnets

Assembly

  • Place the bearing either on the center post on the top part or in the socket on the bottom part

  • DOUBLE CHECK THE MAGNET ORIENTATION BEFORE SOCKETING THE MAGNETS

    • You can remove the magnets by prying them out, but you'll need to tear up some of the plastic in the process. Possible, but messy and potentially dangerous. Take some time, make sure they're aligned.

  • The magnets on the top and bottom parts should be oriented to pull each part together.

  • The magnet sockets are press-fit, so smush and wiggle the magnet discs into the sockets on the top and bottom

  • Smush the two parts together

Print Settings

  • Support: None

    • Each part prints with the flat side on the bed, no overhangs anywhere

  • Filament: (almost) anything

    • I used CF PETG, but this should work fine with PLA and other filaments

  • Perimeters: 2

    • Increase this to increase part strength

  • Infill: 10% Gyroid

    • I used 25% to add some weight

I originally used OnShape for this design and you can find the public document here:
https://cad.onshape.com/documents/00ef5ae83c294c1074101d85/v/082bb3005f83962613ec786f/e/a1ac28a1227248a65594de12?renderMode=0&uiState=667ae1e6616370209f1b5fff

I have since ported the latest version (1.4.0) to FreeCAD. You can find the FreeCAD document file linked in the Model files section. You can find all the variables in the <META>/VarSetsection. Want a larger opening? Smaller case? Differently-sized magnets? Just change the variables and FreeCAD will re-compute the shape so you can export it as a STEP file or STL. The best part: FreeCAD is FREE and requires no sign up whatsoever. Enjoy!

You should be able to modify most variables in the Part Variables table to control the model, make it bigger, resize the magnet sockets, etc. You can then right-click on the part names in the list on the left side to export them as STLs/STEP files.
