Update 01/24/2026: Added an involute pinion for the Tarmo5 Enclosed Gear box which features extra bearings and improved performance characteristics.
The old gears had a lot of overlapping material, which would have to wear down over time. In addition, their curves were not the same, so their meshing would put the angle of pressure in different locations adding to wear on the gears, wasting energy transfer, and increasing friction.
The new gears have only a fraction of overlap. This is because the gears are now mathematically correct Involute gears. There should be basically 0 wear on the gears, less friction, and better power transfer for more of the gears' revolution.
Now, will you notice a difference if you were to change gears? Probably not, but I thought I should upload my changes anyways.
