This is a replacemet spool holder mod for the GratKit FireFly filament dryer.
It allows for putting either desiccant beads or packets inside it for the purpose of lowering chamber humidity while drying.
If you print it with anything lesser than ABS you likely can't dry materials above 55c (Assuming PETG which is untested for this ) as the material will likely soften causing it to deform under the weight of a full 1kg spool.
I have tested this with a full 1kg spool of Nylon drying at 70c over 24 hours and the item remained firm and the threads of the cap didn't weld to the body of the holder.
No supports are required as most printers can bridge the short distances. As well this print was tested in the upright position as the model is in the stl. While printing this horizontal would increase the strength across it's length it would then require supports ( not tested as to how eay it would be to remove them ) as such it was desinged to be printed upright while retaining enugh strength. Keep your print speed lower to ensure strong layer bonding unless you know your printer and your material of choice will have strong layer bonding printing in this orientation.
Settings I used:
Layer height: 0.2
Infill 15% grid
Nozzle: 250c
Bed: 100c
Perimeter speed: 45mm/s for everything
Number of walls: 12
Tops and Bottoms: 5
This was on my Prus i3 Mk3s+ but that should be enough to help you adjust to your printer and material.
I welcome comments and thoughts but, be respectful as I am not a professional cad designer. As well, this was created using TinkerCAD, and as such I can't offer a STEP file as it doesn't offer an export of that format. Thanks.
Here is a MakerWorld link for those wanting it as it seems some social networks have now deemed them as against community standards
