Just a small insert to repurpose the used 9mm luger cases as a decorative magnet. No cutting or gluing required! Only friction fitted.
Print settings:
Layer height doesn't really matter, and neither does nozzle size.
The only requirement is to print it with the conical point on the bed so that the magnet insert portion is on the top. This will ensure that no amount of elephants foot will effect the print and make it difficult for the assembly. If you're having some issues with the seams sticking out, just grab a blade and slice them off the exterior.
No brim should be required, unless you have difficulties of it sticking to the print plate. Then you can add one. You don't have to clean up the brim perfectly, it should be fine if some part is still left attached. No need to get a blade to remove it all, just your finger prying should be sufficient.
Assembly:
Push the magnet on to the print. In my case I just gently pushed it with my thumb until it stuck a bit, and then pressed the whole print onto a flat surface. Then insert it to the case, with the magnet side on the outside, and push against a flat surface. That's it.
Alternative magnet sizes:
I've added a blank which can be used for creating a slot for your custom magnet sizes. I wouldn't go anything above 8mm in diameter. To use the blank, import it to your slicer, make sure to orient it correctly (cone down), and add a negative part modifier to it that's the size of your magnet. I generally do +0,2mm on both diameter and depth to account for irregularities. If it's loose/tight, adjust this tolerance.
I suggest using 6x3mm or bigger magnet. The 6x2mm was a bit on the weak side for me.
Happy Printing :)
