My QR is still going strong on my rig, no failures! :)
UPDATE 2025-04-21:
Added STEP files for remixing.
Added V2 knob.
Fixed incorrect model for wheelbase-plate (wrong hole pattern before).
------------------------
As the QR's available on the market are too expensive to my liking, I decided to make my own after my previous printed “fixed mount” cracked during a race. Also, it's fun to make stuff…
This QR was designed with durability and simplicity in mind, and I wanted it to withstand the forces from my VRS Direct Drive 20Nm wheelbase as well as not being to bulky. The printed plastic itself is fairly weak, I have reinforced it with screws holding some of the load. I cannot guarantee this will hold forever, but at least it has worked fine for me for a couple of months now with no issues.
Both the wheelbase and wheelside PCD is 70mm (as is the VRS DirectForce Pro hub adapter)
Printing instructions
Parts designed for 0.15mm layer height. All parts are oriented in their intended printing orientation! Use PLA or PETG. I printed mine in Prusament PETG Matte Black. PLA is usually harder, but also more brittle. I have not tested what works best. Make sure you have a pretty good dimensional accuracy on your printer, and try to print all interconnecting parts on the same printer.
At least 4 perimeters/walls.
>35% infill (if not 100%) for the plates.
wheelside-plate
Wheelside should be printed with 100% infill for the top part to make sure the force on the screws are spread as much as possible. I used 40% for the lower part.

DIN 7991 M5x20 hex socket countersunk screw | 4 | Up to 5mm wheel thickness. |
DIN 7991 M5x25 hex socket countersunk screw | 2 | Up to 5mm wheel thickness. |
M5 hex nut | 6 |

M5x40 hex head screw, partially threaded | 1 | Locking screw |
M2.5 hex socket countersunk screw | 4 |
|
Please note the locking-screw consists of 3 parts, the knob, knob-cap and the M5x40 screw (partially threaded). Put the screw through the knob, and apply some CA glue to the knob-cap and join them together. The locking-screw can then be installed on the wheel with the knob-cap-cover and M2.5 screws and it will be held in place on the wheel.

70 to 52mm PDC adapter
More nuts and M5 screws are of course needed when using the 70 to 52mm PDC adapter. this adapter was designed to fit the Fanatec BMW GT2 V1 wheel, but might fit other wheels. It will most likely not fit the V2 version.
