Description
a simple cable reel to attach to the handle of industrial type vacuums e.g. from Nilfisk
designed because the standard solution for putting the cable away was not satisfactory
the reel is made to fit around a ~22,5mm handle pipe, but due to the way it is designed you may have luck with similar sized pipes
there are roll-in t-nuts embedded in the reel for the screw to bolt into:
use pauses at the appropriate height in your slicer to embed the t-nuts in the part while printing (before layers 62 & 172 @ 0,2mm layer height) - see here for prusaslicer instructions
BOM per side
- 4x M3x30 hex key machine screws
- 4x T-nut, Roll-in, 2020, M3
the t-nuts must not be bigger than the following:
Printing
use pauses at the appropriate height in your slicer to embed the t-nuts in the part while printing (before layers 62 & 172 @ 0,2mm layer height) - see here for prusaslicer instructions
print in a sturdy filament appropriate to the environment the reel will be used in e.g. PETG, PA, …
no supports should be needed
PA-CF compression test
I used Esun PA-CF and annealed it for 6h at 130°C in the oven for optimal strenght and to prevent the PA from creeping under compression
20.08.2024 - I will update here if the part doesnt hold up
09.09.2024 - The PA-CF has started to deform slightly under the compression of the screws, but does not impact part functionality yet
