There has been a lot of posts about the Tern Atlas kickstand failing to lock over time and needs adjustments or tweaks. There are two bolts holding the latching mechanism, one is a round through hole and the other is a slotted hole which allows the latching mechanism to pivot up or down. When you first get your GSD, the slotted rear bolt is pushed towards the frame - pivoting the latch mechanism up on the front and allow it to align and lock properly. Over time, the latch slips and pivots the front towards the frame making it so it no longer engages properly.

You can put a 1/8" shim behind the latch, helping it maintain its position over time and likely eliminating this problem entirely.

I made a small 3D winged shim and printed it in ASA to force the latch to the right position. You can also use 1/8" thick aluminum 1/2" x 1". Place it under the latch and screw it down while pushing on the latch so it sits flush. This will wedge in the shim. I'm not sure if there is some build tolerance slop that might change this 1/8" shimming on different bikes but it has worked well on the two bikes we tried.

8 sizes - 1.0mm - 4.5mm. Different bikes/stands need different sizes, use the one that seems to fit best.
