MacPro G5 Case Conversion - Power Socket Adapter

Mid/Late 2000s Mac Pro cases are beautiful! However, it's hard to keep up with evolving technology with the quickly depreciating IO and internal components. A great way to preserve the old Mac style and gain more power is case conversions (please re-sell or donate the working internal components of the old machines as there are some collectors who need the working parts for to keep their Mac Pros going). 

Whether you're going for a PC or Mac, full conversion, or keeping the original IO, you may need to adapt the power plug since the original power supply takes up all of the lower part of the case and butts up right to the connector without much need for mounting.

This model will help you mount an IEC extension cable adapter so you could power the components you're putting into the case. 

The model is designed to take M3 heat-set inserts (you may need to clean up extra plastic after heat-setting). For my build I added some double sided tape on the metal parts to adhere the plastic better. 15mm M3 screws will also clamp on the original plastic trim piece mounts to secure the piece in place. 

When installing the mount, align the “Down” side with the bottom of the case. Also, to make the mount more secure, I made it to fit quite snugly. You may need to use some clamps to help set the piece. Make sure to not go too hard as the case's aluminum is quite soft.

For the extension, get an IEC C14 to C13 extension cable.
