This specialised tool gently supports the springs while removing them and the ejector mechanism of the wallet, for easier repair or replacement.
It was reverse-engineered from a tool seen in a training video about the “Secrid Repair Kit” - presumably something sent to service centers.
I will admit the fit isn't perfect, but it was good enough for my purposes.
(Removing the broken ejector and old springs from my old wallet, and swapping in a good mechanism from a newer core)
Printing
No supports needed, and just default slicer settings is fine.
Usage - Removing
- Remove any cards from the wallet, and insert the tool.
- Push the tool further into the wallet, perhaps tapping gently against a table, until the ejector mechanism is removed and the leaf springs have started to slide out.
- If a leaf spring is not fully removed, retract the tool a bit and try again, pushing against that side.
Reinstallation
The tool is not needed for reinstallation, but including here for completeness.
- Insert the leaf springs into the side slots felt-first and felt-facing-inwards, from the end opposite the “SECRID” logo.
(If re-using them, check that the prongs are straight and undamaged) - Push them gently until flush. Be extra-careful towards the end.
- Place the ejector mechanism into the end opposite the logo, with the handle facing on the opposite edge to the logo. (eg so diagonally opposite)
- Gently push until you hear a click, and the ejector mechanism is flush.
- Success! (Hopefully)
