Updates:

[8.10.24] revisit 1:

first testing feedback gathered. grabber sides are now parallel instead of an opening angle. distance between claws has been reduced to increas “grip” on lost disks.

no changes to print settings etc. all required parts still fit.

Description:

W.I.P. | Part still in testing phase.

This is a simple but sturdy Grabber to fish your disks from places you cant reach.

Aditional parts needed:

  • 1x screw ( prob. M5 with a length > 10mm )
  • ( optional ) 1x threaded insert ( M5 )

The threaded insert can be left out but helps distributing the forces into the part easier.

Printing:

  • i wouldnt recommend to scale the part as the springs stiffness will change.
  • when printing with any multi material system i would recommend a support material like PVA or simmilar as getting out the support from behind the spring can be difficult.
  • print the part flat on the bed to maximise the materials strength in the “working direction”
  • print with an flexible but still durable filament like PET(G)

Using an threaded insert:

ideally the insert is inserted from the back of the part untill its flush to the back surface. the screw, when put in from the front of the part, should rest on the insert and not the plastic part when fully fastened. at this point you should be able to screw your grabber to your pole without the need of a screwdriver.
