This is a clip-on mount for a Vantrue Element E1 dashcam. It should also work with the E1 Pro and E1 Lite. It is designed to clip onto the forward edge of my 2022 Ford Transit 350 XLT van dashboard. I did not want to have the dashcam mounted up high on the windshield, which would require routing the power cable through the headliner. I also wanted it to be easily removable. Since it is a van, it is sufficiently high for a good view of the road.
The clip has a large enough gap to slip over the forward lip of the dashboard, including a 3mm-thick sticky gel pad. I am using the Ywhomal Traceless Super Sticky Gel Pad (3"x2.5"x0.12") from Amazon, but anything similar should work. The mount is very secure. The dashcam cable can be easily plugged into one of the two available power ports on the left side of the dashboard (one 12VDC accessory port and one USB C port). These ports are only live when the car is running, so for Parking Mode, I would need use a different power source.
The cavity that holds the base of the dashcam is large enough to accommodate the double-sided tape that comes with the dashcam. It is a snug fit, so I did not remove the protective plastic that covers the tape. It just slides in and is very secure.
I made the bracket from PETG for robustness and high temperature tolerance. It seems plenty strong for its intended purpose. It was printed with 0.15mm layers, 30% fill, and supports.
If I were to change to a different dashcam, I could use the same clip portion and modify the upper section that holds the camera. The clip could be easily modified to fit other vehicles.
