A replacement weighted base designed for an upright light originally bought in the UK from a store called Dunelm. The plastic original went brittle and broke apart, leaving a mess of concrete filling on the floor.

I've tried to make an improved, 3D printable version. I chose to fill the base with 4-10mm stainless steel ball bearings since they were inexpensive to purchase from a store in Poland, Udengo. It took over 2kg of balls, but any filling which gets you to the original 1.5kg should be OK.

The original base also also had 1m thick double sided sticky foam pads attached to the top. I bought some similar replacement tape from Halfords and double stacked it to achieve roughly the same thickness. Try to stick it to the outer edges avoiding the metal spacer in the middle.

  • Fits on a bed size of 256mm*256mm*256mm
  • No supports needed
  • Print the base upside down, i.e. the top on the build plate
  • Print the plug with the back on the build plate
  • The plug has been designed for PETG or ABS tolerances
  • Work the plug in and out a bit to clear the printed threads gradually rather than trying to insert it fully at the start
