I love my new flexispot desk, but the dangling wire from the controller was bothering me - so I made some cable holders!
These are made for the E7 pro, but works with any steel/iron surface and a φ5.2mm cable.
You'll need one φ16mm x t5mm neodymium magnet for each holder.
I recommend to use the cupped ones, such as those ones:
Cram the magnets in (cup bottom towards the printed part), and enjoy!
Printing
- Print with the flat surface facing downwards.
- Use whatever material / nozzle fits you, this isn't a precision part.
- I used PLA + 0.6mm nozzle.
Tips
- If the magnets are a bit loose, some epoxy glue will do the trick. Get whatever cheap one you can get a your local dollar store.
- Baking sheets makes a nice surface for mixing it.
- Unlike CA glue, epoxy is great for uneven surfaces, filling the gaps before hardening.
- If you accidentally spilled mixed epoxy, wipe with a disposable rug, then apply alcohol and wipe again with another rug.
- If the magnets don't fit, (they should, the tolerance is quite generous) use a hairdrier to soften the printed part.
- Be careful to not heat up too much, neodymium magnets (esp. cheap ones) aren't heat tolerant.
- Or just expand the model a bit in the slicer until it fits.
- If the magnet slips down on vertical surfaces, use a very thin grip tape / sheet. Remember - “grip” = nominal force(magnetic field) \* coefficient of friction(metal is usually quite bad at this) \* surface area of contact
- I like to use this one with stick glue, or thin double-sided tape: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B09QKCG9CP
- The thinness is very important - cupped magnets are very strong in short distances, but their magnetic field decay very quickly.
