I needed an easy to use audiobook player for a visually impaired family member — this project is the result. It's a button pad with big buttons that clips onto and controls a Muse Luxe Speaker. Communication between the pad and the speaker happens over espmuse's grove connector.
Required hardware:
- 6 x Cherry MX switches.
- 1 x EC11 rotary encoder.
- A micro-controller that runs on 3.3V, supports I2C and has at least 6 GPIOs for the buttons and encoder (I used an old Arduino Nano V3).
- Grove connection cable (I regret crimping my own).
- Muse Luxe Speaker
Everything is hand-wired and glued in place. The pinout can be determined from the firmware of the MCU or the firmware can be modified to match your pinout.

Printed in Bambu PLA-CF Lava Gray. PolyTerra PLA Charcoal Black also works great for this print. Parts with text were printed with a 0.4 nozzle, while the rest was printed with a 0.6 nozzle. The debossed areas on the key caps were filled with nail polish.
The firmware for the MCU and ESP32 in the Luxe speaker can be found here:
