The fan of my IKEA Vindriktning started to make too much noise, so I thought I'd give it an upgrade with a PMS7003 (I got this one: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EwyICG6). unfortunately, it didn't fit in the original casing, So I designed a new one, to fit the particle sensor and the modifications I already made to my original Vindriktning: an esp8266 and a BME680 sensor. Since I ditched everything else from the Vindriktning, I also added a WS2812b RGB-LED as a status light.

For power, I used one of these USB-C ports: https://amzn.eu/d/heUFmsQ I've cut the white and blue wires off at the base (the data lines) and added a small piece of breadboard to the device with two 5.1k Ohm pull-down resistors between the green (CC1) and yellow (CC2) wires and the black (GND) wire, so the device can be used with (almost) all USB-C chargers.

All the components are simply soldered together with small wires. (see second picture for a view on the inside of a prototype during development-phase). Use the datasheets of the devices and the ESPHome configuration file to see which pin goes where. For assembly, I melted heated inserts in the 4 posts of the front part and 4 12MM M2 hex bolts. Then I used the attached ESPHome configuration to publish all the sensor data to Home Assistant.
