Replacement for the 523 battery used in old cameras and computers
Note: Additional components are required for this print (See below)
I took inspiration from this model (keeping in mind some of the comments that were mentioned on the reddit thread where it was shared)
My main issues were that I didn't have the same sprint, and that the battery was just cut in half and therefore had nothing holding it together. To fix these issues, I :
- Redesigned the holder to use a pen spring (which should be okay for short time, low current applications. Please consider your use case carefully)
- Added a little notch to hold the screw recessed in order to further minimize accidental shorting
- Added a notched ring locking mechanism
- Added incut on the end to make removal in tight spaces easier
I did not cut my spring, so I added an enclosed loop to help keep the contain the spring.
Other Features:
- Because of the spring on the positive side, there is a little bit of play for making a connection
- I made it a bit smaller to fit my specific use case than the original, but it should work fine for all applications (if not I can release the longer version)
Print Settings:
- 0.4mm nozzle
- 0.2mm layer height
- Supports required
Printing Notes:
- Print one of each of the holder and holder cover
- Print two of the rings
- I rotated the cover and the holder to be on their side to improve strength against the push of the spring and to reduce supposrt size
Additional Components:
- Pen spring
- 2x M4x10 screws
- 3x LR44 batteries (or the replacement)
Extra Notes:
- I believe I can come up with a better assembly/locking mechanism, so I will see what I can conjure up
- As mentioned, I can release the slightly longer version if people are having issues with spacing
- Add visual indicator for identifying positive and negative side
- Positive side is towards the spring
- Other suggestions welcome
