The original design of these mounts held the laptop by the short edge. The creator who brilliantly added the USB mounts positioned the brackets on the long edge. For me the orientation change removed too much support to securely hold your laptop in place.
MPB 14" width measures to 31.26 cm and this bracket will support 23.55 cm of your expensive hardware.
