Hole diameter gauges are nothing new – but this is the most versatile parametric OpenSCAD file you'll find.

It generates STLs to help with designing holes in your CAD software, making it perfect for finding tolerances and achieving either snug or free-fitting connections. Holes can be created in multiple diameters with 0.1 mm steps, and in a variety of core shapes.

Core shapes:

  • Circular holes – diameter defines the circle
  • Circular holes with pointed overhang for vertical printing – diameter defines the circle
  • Squares – diameter defines the edge length
  • Diamonds – diameter defines the square’s diagonal
  • Rotated squares for vertical printing – diameter defines the edge length
  • Hexagons – diameter defines either the inscribed or circumscribed circle
  • Screw-in holes with extra material for self-forming threads – diameter defines the circle

Customizable:

  • Hole diameters in full mm
  • Plate height
  • Font size
  • Spacing
  • Label style: debossed, embossed (pause in printing), or inset text only (for multicolor prints)

Usage: The printed plate can be used to test dowels, screws, hex nuts, square nuts, and other printed parts to determine the ideal diameter or edge length to use in your CAD design.

Print Instructions: Print in the same material and with the same print settings you plan to use for your final parts. This ensures accurate tolerance results that account for material shrinkage.
