I've designed this filament runout sensor which can be mounted on any 3d printer.
It's very reliable and easy to print if your printer is well calibrated.
I've made an animation for the assembly.
All you need is :
- Two 22x8x7mm bearings
- One small limit switch
- Two ø4.5mm spring (just use a pen spring and cut it in half)
- Three M3x8mm screws
- Three M3x15mm screws
The wiring is simple you just need to solder two wire to the limit-switch and connect it to the filament runout sensor port on your motherboard.
You need to bend the metal part of the sensor if it's not sensitive enough.
To separate the parts of the assembly, just use your slicer. And don't use supports.
It uses about 15 to 20 grams of filament to print
Please post your makes !)
