I created a base for a vintage sewing machine (designed for a Pfaff 262) so that I can put the flat bed sewing machine on my desk.
This is a very improvised design, not a lot of though went into it.
Materials required:
- Silicone pads for the bottom, so that it doesn't move around
- Super glue to join both parts
- Tape (optional, I taped the seam between the 2 parts in case some excess oil from the machine leaks, I don't want any oil to reach my desk)
Take into consideration:
- This was a very fast design and was designed around my machine, so it may not fit yours. I have heard they are universal but I am not sure to what extent that is the case.
- Note you must lift the whole machine and take it from here to change the lower bobbin. If you change the lower bobbin often, this base can be impractical
- The smaller dowels that connect the 2 pieces are fragile, beware when manipulating
If I would re-design it I would fix the following:
- The side handles do require supports otherwise the overhang will sag a lot
- On my printer, the corners curled up so I recommend a strong brim around
Hope you find it useful, or remix it to a more refined design.
