The first picture shows how it might look and the second one how it looks right now.
For this vertical garden you will need a 110 mm PVC tube, 73 mm hole saw and some base.
Just cut the 73 mm holes in the tube in a pattern of your liking, press fit the inserts and then add the pot with holes. Make it some kind of stand and finally fill the tube with soil or pump through it a water stream and you are done.
The marking ring is to space the tube into equal thirds. Using this - mark three parallel lines going the whole length of the pipe. All of the holes are spaced 210 mm but with different starts. One starts 70 mm from top, second one 120 mm from top and the third one 200 mm from the top.
Advantage of these inserts, over others I found, is that it has a little spring tab, that makes it so you do not have to use glue. Just press it in and it stays.
The main disadvantage is that you need to print the tab with supports. But the tab is small so you do not waste a lot of filament. It is required to use PETG, ABS, ASA - because of higher temperature and UV resistance.
(A little disclaimer when using soil: When the crop planted has short roots you need to water each individual insert until it it long enough to reach the main PVC tube. It can be a little tricky because of the angle. If you try to water the top of the soil directly it will just wash away - so you either need to remove the pots and water them or pull them out a little a pour the water into the gap. Once the roots are long enough you can water just the main pipe from top.)
