Yes, yet another drawer system.

Overview

This one attaches to your Multiboard system and is designed to be as minimalist as possible

The drawers pull out and drop down for easy access and inspection.

If you need to take it somewhere, just pull it off the board. Depending on the attachment.

Models

There are various sizes available

  • 50x50 (Single push fit attachment)

  • 50x50 (T-Bolt attachment, inside bin is 3mm shorter)

  • 100x50 (Single and double attachment)

  • 100x50 with divider slot.

  • 100x50 (T-Bolt attachment, inside bin is 3mm shorter)

  • T-Bolt socket to reach into the 100mm boxes

  • More to come (Let me know in the comments of other configurations you'd like)

The label version has space for a 41mm x 24mm paper label

How to print

  • The inside bin and T-Bolt drawers prints without supports.

  • The push fit outer box, however needs supports and need to be printed on it's back.
On my printer it leaves an ugly surface from the bridging, but it's at the back so you won't really see it. (See Permanent Marker support trick below)

  • Thanks to @ThiagoRiegle_1216478 for this idea:
(See attached screenshot and Box_50x50_little_support.3mf file)
If you swivel the box 45deg on the back corner and cut it into the plate a few mm. Then only add supports for the the edge of the connector, you can save a lot on support material.
PS: I haven't tested it on the 100mm bin yet

Gridfinity bins

If you scale a 6U gridfinity bin to 41x41x42.65 , you can fit 2 inside 100m bin.

Permanent Marker supports trick

If you want a perfect print you can use the permanent marker trick.

Set the interface distance between support and print to 0.0.

In OrcaSlicer the settings are:

Navigate to Support→ Advanced

Top Z distance: 0

Bottom Z Distance: 0

Top Interface layers: 1

Interface Pattern: Rectilinear

Print with supports, pause at the end of the supports layer.

Then color in the surface with permanent marker, except the multiboard connector (red in the screenshot)

Resume the print.

Changelog

  • 50mm outside box. Sunk the connector so that back of box is flush with the board. Should be more secure to the multiboard

  • Added T-Bolt attachment drawers

  • Added T-Bolt 50mm and 100mm boxes

  • Added 100mm boxes with dividers

  • Add 3md file for 45 deg outer box print, with fewer support
