The seat on my wife's Nova Bath Stool broke (the 2 white photos) so I designed a replacement.
Printed in green ASA with 5 walls and 10% gyroid infill with anti-elephant foot enabled. Used mouse ears and glue on the build plate then let the print cool before removing.
Included:
- StoolSeat.fcstd - the FreeCAD v1 document,
- StoolSeat-Body.3mf - an OrcaSlicer 3MF,
- StoolSeat-Body.step - a quarter seat piece,
- StoolSeat-TestBody.step - a test file to make sure the dovetails fit.
You will need 5 M6 H8 threaded inserts and an insertion tool.
Print the dovetail test piece and test, you want a slight interference fit. Adjust the dimensions in the sketch if necessary.
Print 4 of the seat quarters. Trim the edges and smooth off any sharp corners. I used a deburring tool and a small file. Test fit. You should have to lightly tap the pieces together using a rubber mallet. When fit is good, disassembly, apply CA glue and reassemble (bottom side up), immediately wiping off any excess CA. After the CA has set, use a 7.5mm drill to clean and widen the holes, then install the inserts. I recommend using some blue loctite on the 5 bolts which should be hand tightened snug.
