WiFi QR Code Coaster with Caddy
Drink coasters with a QR code to connect to your WiFi. If your guest is using your WiFi, they should be using coasters under their drinks! No excuses!
Generate and download your QR code SVG file using this link: https://observablehq.com/@johnboiles/wifi-qr-code-svg-generator . It's not mine, I just found it from a write up for another model here. Enter your network details, and use the following settings:
- Size: 62mm
- Inset: 0mm
- Corner radius: default
- Error correction level: default
On your slicer, add your SVG file as a Negative Part – SVG to your coaster object and center it. Right click on the SVG object and click edit SVG. Use the following settings:
- Depth: 1mm
- Size: default
- Use Surface: checked
- Operation: Cut
- All other settings: default
Personally, I edited mine on Fusion360 so I don’t get the square border on the QR Code. Just a matter of taste; it shouldn’t affect the functionality.
If you have a multicolour printer, adjust the colours so the cut out parts are black. If you need to do a manual colour change, pause on layer 8 and change colour during print. I did mine with black on the bottom, and white on layer 8 and up.
Files include the blank coaster, and two options for caddies. One for 8 coasters and another for 6.
