The reason I designed this is due to how not-smooth the mechanism is on the OEM pedal. This upgrade is dramatically more responsive and smooth. Note that the pedal as designed does bottom out before hitting the max speed, but I actually like this effect on my machine so I chose to not adjust it. If you want to adjust that and get the max speed you will need to make those modifications yourself.

Non-printed BOM:

  • (2) 608 bearings
  • (1) 10x5x4mm bearing (probably unnecessary)
  • (2) M8x15 bolt
  • (1) M5x15 bolt (probably unnecessary)
  • (6) #2x1/4" coutersunk wood screws
  • (3) #2x3/8" wood screws
  • (2) #4x1/2" wood screws (these came with the original pedal in my case)

The screw sizes above are not mm as in the commonly used metric machine screws, they are standard wood screw sizes in the US. If you not have access to them locally I recommend boltdepot.com or modifying the step files accordingly.

Warning: building this pedal does involve moving the 120V power cable from the OEM pedal frame to the new one. Do not do any part of that process with the cable plugged in. Additionally, do not mix up the neutral and live board connections. The first time you plug in the new pedal be prepared to immediately unplug it if you hear or see anything unusual (like a pop, or a spark).
