Background
I needed a ¼" driver for idle screw adjustment on my car that was low-profile, magnetic, & fixed to allow precise rotation control. I printed several versions of designs I liked, but the hex bit fit was too loose & shallow for my need, plus scaling for better hex fit affected magnet press fit. So, I designed my own version.
Design
- Optimized shape for tight areas, knurled pattern for finger grip, & min print time
- Deep hex pocket provides full engagement on my particular quick-connect ¼" shank nut driver bits (old Black & Decker)
- Requires qty 2 - 6x3mm magnets
Notes:
Hex pocket depth won't work well for typical short bits since it will swallow them up
YMMV on hex & magnet clearance due to printer settings, material, hex/magnet dims, etc.. A test slice print of slip fit area may be a good idea.
Printing & Assembly
Printed in Overture Black PETG @ 0.3mm layer, 15% Gyroid fill, & 4 perimeters. No support, no pause required. Magnets can be pressed into pocket using hex bit.
